Police Pensions

Police pensions have a long history - dating back to 1829. The Metropolitan Police Act of that year introduced, for police officers in London, certain benefits on disablement or to quote the Act for those "worn out by length of service". It was, however, not until 1890 that a full pension scheme was available for all police officers.

There have been many changes to the pension scheme since those early days and the current scheme is contained in a document known as "The Police Pension Regulations 1987". Although published in 1987 there have been a number of improvements and changes to the scheme since that time.

Please note that we only administer the Police Pension Scheme for officers who serve/served in Grampian Police or its former force of Aberdeen City Police and SNECC.

If you are or have belonged to any other UK force then you should contact them for further information. Use the link below to find out details of your force.
