Deferred Member

LGPS

Deferred members are former members of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) who have deferred their pension benefits until retirement age. Detailed information about membership and Scheme benefits can be found in our new Scheme guides, which are available in the LGPS Library or on request from the Pension Fund.

Deferred benefits are calculated on total membership and final pay to the date of leaving the LGPS. These benefits are increased annually in line with the Retail Prices Index. An annual benefit statement giving details of benefits will be issued to all deferred members.

Opting out of paper benefit statements

You may, if you prefer, choose to receive future copies of your deferred benefit statements by e-mail rather than by post.  If you wish to do this please complete the form below; otherwise, we will continue to send you statements by post.  You will need to ensure that our record of your e-mail address is kept up-to-date.  You can do this by writing to or emailing the Pension Fund or by registering to use our secure Internet Member Self Service.
